Microneedling when to see results? The initial skin tightening and pore reduction can be seen immediately after treatment. However, you won't see your final microneedling results until four to six weeks after your anti-aging treatment.

What size microneedle is best for face? ›

For treating acne and other scars as a routine, a needle length of 1.5–2 mm is usually used. When microneedling is used as a procedure to treat ageing skin and wrinkles, the needle length of 0.5 mm or 1.0 mm is usually recommended.

As a general rule, nano pins are best for increasing product absorption, 11-16 pins are best for targeted applications and 36-42 pins are best for larger and more sensitive areas (such as your neck, upper/inner thighs and underarm).

What should you not do when microneedling? ›

Avoid partaking in activities that will heat up your skin, such as going in a hot tub/Jacuzzi/sauna, taking a very hot shower, or strenuous exercise for 2 days after treatment. First Few Days: Continue gentle cleansing and moisturizing over the next few days. Avoid scrubbing, rubbing, or using exfoliants for 1 week.

Avoid exfoliants, retinols, and vitamin C

Avoid any skin care product that contains harsh chemicals meant to exfoliate. Avoid anything that's scented, and don't use glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). Retinol and vitamin C serum should be avoided for at least the first 48 hours after microneedling.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. (All of these factors increase risk of bruising and swelling).

Because of the minute traumas to the skin, you will want to avoid certain products immediately after a microneedling session. A vitamin C serum is one such product you won't want to use for 2-3 days following your microneedling treatment.

Hyaluronic acid is used in so many skincare products because of its hydrating properties. That means there are many serums out there that work great for microneedling aftercare (just double-check if it's okay for use on broken skin). We recommend Cosmetica Skincare's Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum.
